11/10/12 What Does It Mean To Be A United States Marine? Throughout the world on 10 November, U.S. Marines celebrate the birth of their Corps —the most loyal, most feared, most revered, and most professional fighting force the world has ever known. The Marine Corps adopted Semper Fidelis as its official motto in 1883 (Semper Fidelis is also the title of the official musical March of the Marine Corps.) Translated from Latin, Semper Fidelis means “Always Faithful.” U.S. Marines use an abbreviated verbal version, “Semper Fi,” to voice loyalty and commitment to their Marine comrades-in-arms.

“Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world. But, the Marines don’t have that problem.” [Ronald Reagan, U.S. President; 1985]
11/17/12 Until Tuesday. (Joined in progress). A heartwarming dog story like no other, a lovable golden retriever, changes a former soldier’s life forever.

“A highly decorated captain in the U.S. Army, Luis Montalvan never backed down from a challenge during his two tours of duty in Iraq. After returning home from combat, however, his physical wounds and crippling post-traumatic stress disorder began to take their toll. He wondered if he would ever recover. Then Luis met Tuesday, a sensitive golden retriever trained to assist the disabled. Tuesday had lived among prisoners and at a home for troubled boys, and he found it difficult to trust in or connect with human beings-until Luis.

Until Tuesday is the story of how two wounded warriors, who had given so much and suffered the consequences, found salvation in each other. It is a story about war and peace, injury and recovery, psychological wounds and restoration. But more than that, it is the story about the love between a man and dog, and how, together, they healed each other’s souls.”
